LIFE LESSONS: TWO MEN WITH A SERIOUS QUARREL

LIFE LESSONS: TWO MEN WITH A SERIOUS QUARREL

LIFE LESSONS: TWO MEN WITH A SERIOUS QUARREL GO TO THE RABBI

Once there were two men with a very serious quarrel.  The first man decided to go to the rabbi, discuss the matter, and get advice from the rabbi.  He schedules an appointment and goes to the rabbi’s.  The rabbi greets him at the door and invites him in to his office.  The man proceeds to tell the rabbi how the conflict began followed by every bad thing that the other person has even done.  This continues for a hour and then both men stand, shake hands, and the rabbi turns to the man and says “You are right”.  The man is happy and leaves.
Several days later the second man comes to the rabbi.  The rabbi invites him into his office and the man launches into a tirade against the other man telling every bad thing he can think of about him.  The continues for around an hour and then both men rise, shake hands, and again the rabbi says to the man “You are right!”.  The man is pleased and he leaves.

All the while the rabbi’s wife has been in the adjacent room overhearing both conversations.  Furious she bursts into the rabbi’s office and tells him “You told the first man that he was right.  Then you tell the second man tha he was right.  Who is right”.  The rabbi turns to his wife and say “You are right!”.

The point of the story is that because one person is right that does not mean that the other person is wrong.  There can be more than one way to do things and tolerance trumps all.
