MARLEEN’S BROKEN ELBOW

MARLEEN’S BROKEN ELBOW

A TRIP TO MY SON’S DOCTOR ENDED UP MY WIFE IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM

My son was sixteen at the time and had a doctor’s appointment.  My wife drop him to the doctor’s office and parked in the underground parking.  She got out of the drivers’ seat and proceeded toward the back of the minivan.  She then turned to her left as she rounded the back driver’s side corner and did not look straight down.  There was an oil slick on the garage floor.  She slipped, fell on the point of her left elbow and broke it very badly.  However, at that time she was working as a registered nurse at Holy Cross Hospital and knew all the orthopedic surgeons.  She chose the best surgeon, Dr. Rockower, and scheduled the surgery.  Dr Rockower began to repair the elbow from all of the bone fragments and put in pins to hold everything together.  Marleen now had to have the pins in her elbow for two months.  After two months, she scheduled the surgery to remove the pins.  The following week I took Marleen to Dr. Rockower’s office to have him check on how the elbow was healing.  He had Marleen hold her left hand palm up and try to bend it as far as she could.  Marleen now had restricted motion of her left hand and could not touch her nose?  Then I asked Dr. Rockower whether he was going to prescribe his special advanced physical therapy to lengthen her nose?  They both rolled on the floor laughing hysterically.
