I am not a medical professional and authorized to give medical advice. Therefore, everything I am presenting here is for informational purposes only and I suggest you consult your medical professionals and also do your own research to learn as much as possible about this very dangerous disease.
AN UNPLANNED NEW JOURNEY BEGINS
It is hard to say exactly when my relative developed the pancreatic cancer since the symptoms could be connected to so many different things and even frequent visits to various physicians and specialists did not trigger a direct understanding of the disease and along with the severity and level of risk.. As such by the time we did get a CT scan done and the results the cancer was already at stage 4 with all sources warning us that this is far too late and the prognosis is not good.
NATURAL REACTION TO DEVASTATING NEWS
Anyone reciving such news is naturally is thrown off balance and is in shock. By nature I am an engieer and scientist, so I approach any new situation or challenge with first understand the problem, doing expansive research on all aspects of the matter, try to find hope for the person, seek out all options, and then try to find the best solution available for the person.
EMBARKING ON RESEARCH
Ironically, my last post on PotPlayer dovetails in to the new ressearch perfectly. I literally have spent hours if not days researching all aspects of Pancreatic Cancer. I began by looking on YouTube for appropriate videos on survivors along with with there stories and lessons. I then tried to learn everything about the pancreas, how cancer spreads to other organs, treatment, prevention, and so forth. At first I began with trying to find hope and inspiration for my relative. At the beginning I would forward the first glimmers of hope but as time went on and the mass of videos grew I became very selective and only forwarded the URL (links) to the best videos in terms of expertiece, presentation, and quality of presentation and communications. Along with the URL I would add some screen captures of important visual information and notes to help understand key elements.
NEXT I ADDED POTPLAYER TO THE PROCESS
PotPlayer made my research so much more effective. I could now email the organized PlayList with all of the videos in the appropriaiate topic areas along with adding bookmarks at each important point on the timeline and with key imagees. This means that viewing the playlists and materials were already pre-digested and one could return to any point in any video with ease saving time and trouble.
A FEW WORDS BEFORE PROVIDING SOME RECOMMENDED WEB PAGES
The pancreas is located in the abdomen near the stomach, liver, spleen, small intestine, spleen, and kidneys. The pancreas has 4 regions: head, neck,, body, and tail. The symptoms and treatments along with statistics are directly linked to the location of the cancer. For example, if the cancer is in the head there is the possibility that this will impace the bile duct which in turn may result in jaundice symptoms such as yellowing of the eyes and skin. This might actually help catch the cancer earlier than other locations. My relative has the cancer in the tail area. The symptoms were constant pain From this point onward I will just include video and other links to reference materials organized by topic.
