Kodi Lee is blind and autistic but finds his calling life through music. In many if not most situations an autistic person is disadvantaged before they even get out of the starting blocks. Complicate the situation with blindness that it borders on hopelessness. But through a great mother and support system Kodi not only succeeds but achieves greatness in winning the entire competition and truly achieves success beyond his wildest imagination. And I am not aware of anyone in the story that has to come back and apologize for their thinking, inappropriate comments, or actions.
Changing to related topic. In Israel Defense Forces they set up a special unit for autistic people who are exempt from army service but for them serving in the army is a means of achieving acceptance in society after a long road of rejections. So in this unit they teach the new recruits how to read satellite photos and in photos filled with buildings, trees, and other scenery these people can easily pick out every artillery piece, rocket launcher, and other weapons that you and I could not even see.
